Helpful Appointment Tips From Chimney Care Fireplace & Stove

Getting ready for your chimney or dryer vent service doesn’t have to be a hassle, and a little preparation can make the visit go more smoothly for everyone involved. Chimney Care Fireplace & Stove recommends a few simple steps before your appointment to help our technicians work efficiently and to keep your home protected throughout the process.

When Should I Book My Chimney or Dryer Vent Appointment?

The busiest time of year for chimney sweeps is fall through early winter, when homeowners are using their fireplaces or stoves for the first time after being dormant. If you’re hoping for the most flexibility in scheduling, the best time to book your appointment is in the spring or summer months. You’ll have a better chance of getting a time that works for you, and your system will be ready well before the burn season begins.

Routine chimney sweeping and dryer vent cleaning should be done once a year to maintain proper performance and to reduce the risk of fire hazards. Booking early keeps you ahead of the rush and ensures there’s plenty of time to address any needed repairs or recommendations.

What Should I Do Before My Appointment?

To help us complete your service efficiently and safely, there are a few things you can do in advance of your scheduled visit:

  • Clear out the firebox. If you’ve recently used your fireplace or stove, please remove any built-up ash or debris from the firebox. This gives us a clean starting point and allows for a more thorough inspection.
  • Remove surrounding items. We’ll need access to the area surrounding the fireplace or dryer vent, so please move any furniture, decorations, or other personal items out of the immediate workspace. This helps prevent accidental damage and speeds up the process.
  • Stop using your system 24 hours in advance. We ask that you do not use your chimney, fireplace, wood stove, or dryer for at least 24 hours before your appointment. This gives the system enough time to cool completely before we begin working.

What If I Forget to Prepare?

If you’re not able to complete all of the suggested steps ahead of time, don’t worry – we’ll still do our best to complete your service. That said, following these appointment tips allows us to stay on schedule, avoid unnecessary delays, and provide you with the most effective service possible.
